Undercurrent company dancers perform Surface Tension (2026 premier) — a thrill ride for performers and audiences: a high-velocity dance in low space brought to life by the precise tension between community care and risk.
Since 1983, the NW New Works Festival (NWNW) has been a vibrant celebration of artists from all performance disciplines, showcasing the dynamic arts community of the Pacific Northwest.
2026 NWNW Festival curated by Rana San (intermedia artist and curator), Parmida Ziaei (multidisciplinary artist and designer), and ILVS STRAUSS (multidisciplinary artist and performer).

Produced by Heap Troupe — join us for a summer showing in the spectacular downtown Freeway Park. Heap artists share work-in-progress sketches of an upcoming evening-length performance (2027 premiere).
Through a residency award, Freeway Park supports Heap Troupe's development of a 2027 evening-length dance work examining car culture, and a clash of humans, urbanity and mobility.
UNDERCURRENT AT westFEST

Bare Bait Dance and Westside Theater partner to produce a week of professional training, performances and creative process. Undercurrent partners with westFEST 2026 to seamlessly blend training, collaborative rehearsal processes, and performances in an immersive, community-building experience for the Mountain West’s dance community.
In addition to crafting a new work for festival participants, Undercurrent company dancers will perform Surface Tension (2026 premiere) at the festival's opening weekend of shows.
